Davids Bejers is a Latvian-born jazz guitarist and composer currently based in Cologne, Germany. His music lives at the intersection of jazz, indie rock, and modern classical music — often weaving string quartet arrangements with lyrical guitar textures and emotionally charged vocals.

 

Deeply influenced by philosophy, literature, and the experience of living between cultures, Davids writes songs in both German and English that explore themes of identity, love, longing, and the quiet search for meaning. His compositions balance intimacy and complexity, drawing inspiration from artists like Bill Frisell, Radiohead, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the poetic world of Rainer Maria Rilke.

 

David’s sound is shaped by a deep foundation in jazz, pop, and classical music. His background as a guitarist merges with his training in composition — guided by teachers like Andris Dzenītis (bringing classical and academic precision), Florian Ross (form and harmonic structure), and Jesse Passenier (instrumentation and orchestration). A love for indie rock and metal from his teenage years continues to echo in his energy, textures, and rawness.

 

In 2021, he released his debut album Home, recorded in Riga, which brought together nine years of compositions and various line-ups ranging from intimate trios to expansive nonets. The album reflects his broad musical vocabulary and commitment to deeply personal storytelling.

 

After studying jazz guitar and composition in Maastricht and performing across Europe, David developed a sound that feels both contemporary and timeless — raw, reflective, and defiantly sincere. Whether through instrumental improvisation or poetic songwriting, his music speaks to those who seek depth, vulnerability, and resonance.
